Meet The Clinical Director: Ebony Dunigan, M.A., LMFT

As a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, I am dedicated to helping couples and families heal and thrive in their relationships. I specialize in counseling and problem-solving with couples who have experienced infidelity. I understand betrayal from both a professional and personal perspective as someone who has overcome an affair in my own relationship.

I was in the position of rebuilding my marriage while raising a family and starting a business using my education and experience in counseling. I know the struggles of working through infidelity while meeting the demands outside of the relationship. It was difficult but healing became possible through problem-solving together, individual and couple’s therapy, specialized help, support groups, and our shared faith. The results have inspired me to apply this knowledge to other couples who are working to recover from infidelity.

Before becoming a therapist, I held a long-term substitute teaching position at an alternative school for students who struggled or misbehaved at conventional school. The children I taught were often labeled “bad” when in reality they were in need of focused attention from adults who came from a place of acceptance rather than punishment. That experience shaped me so much that I became motivated to become a therapist and work with families, helping them to find balance, understanding, and acceptance in their relationships with one another.

Once I achieved my master’s I set out to open a practice in Flint along with like-minded, culturally competent therapists dedicated to healing families through counseling. I have been able to pave the way for a faith-based practice founded on the same problem-solving skills that allowed me to heal my own marriage. I opened Christian Wellness Center in 2016 and since then I have been helping couples recover from a variety of challenges. Trained in both Dialectical and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (DBT and CBT) methods, our practice is prepared to offer counseling to fit the unique needs of your relationship, your family, and yourself.

I work to hold all individuals in session accountable in an effort to demonstrate that while you may be in pain, there is still a lot of repair that can be accomplished. With extensive training on how systems work, I can provide a scientific perspective on your family unit while still acknowledging the role that faith may have in your life. At Christian Wellness Center we are here to both pray with you and for you.

Outside of work, faith remains an important component of my life. I feel enriched by community service and the study of scripture. On the weekends, I enjoy reading, shopping for rare vintage finds at thrift stores, and spending time with my family. I homeschool my three children while having fun and remaining true to myself.

I think there is wisdom in outside perspective. Acknowledging this wisdom has helped me to better understand my marriage, my family, and myself—and it can help you too.
